RecipeWeave for Claude and ChatGPT

Search, save, and plan meals from your AI assistant

What it does

The RecipeWeave connector lets AI assistants that support the Model Context Protocol (MCP) work with your RecipeWeave account. From a chat you can:

  • Search public recipes and cook plans, and read them in full, without an account.
  • Import recipes from web pages, save public recipes, or create recipes from text you paste.
  • Combine up to 10 of your recipes into a cook plan: one timeline so every dish finishes together.
  • Edit recipes and cook plans, get grocery lists, and check your monthly allowance.

Every result includes a link to the item on recipeweave.com, where you can use the interactive timeline and live timers.

Before you start

  • A RecipeWeave account. You can create one during setup; the free plan includes 5 recipe saves and 1 cook plan per month.
  • An assistant that supports remote MCP connectors with OAuth, such as Claude or ChatGPT.

Server URL: https://recipeweave.com/api/mcp

Set up in Claude

  1. If RecipeWeave is listed in Claude's connector directory, open Customize → Connectors, find RecipeWeave, and click Connect. Otherwise, choose Add custom connector.
  2. For a custom connector, enter the name RecipeWeave and the URL https://recipeweave.com/api/mcp. Under Authentication choose Sign in now, and under OAuth client keep Use Claude's published identity. Click Add.
  3. Sign in to RecipeWeave (or create an account), review the permissions, and click Allow access.
  4. In a chat, open the + menu, choose Connectors, and turn on RecipeWeave.

Set up in ChatGPT

  1. Open Plugins in ChatGPT. If RecipeWeave is available in the directory, install it and choose Connect. Otherwise, select the + button, then Add custom MCP server.
  2. For a custom server, enter the name RecipeWeave and the URL https://recipeweave.com/api/mcp, choose OAuth authentication, and, if asked, use a Client ID Metadata Document (no client ID or secret needed).
  3. Sign in to RecipeWeave, review the permissions, and click Allow access.
  4. Install the plugin, start a new chat, and type @RecipeWeave to select it.

Permissions

When you connect, RecipeWeave asks for these permissions. The assistant can use only what you approve.

PermissionAllows the assistant to
View your recipesList and read your recipes, identify your account, and show your usage.
Create and edit recipesCreate, import, save, and edit recipes, and request deletion or publishing.
View your cook plansList and read your cook plans.
Create and edit cook plansCreate, save, and edit cook plans, and request deletion or publishing.
Change your display name and request email changesUpdate your display name and request an email change.
Keep your connection active between visitsStay connected without signing in again each time.

Actions that need your approval

Deleting a recipe or cook plan, publishing one, sending an ingredient email, and changing your email address never happen directly from chat. The assistant gives you a link to recipeweave.com that shows exactly what will happen. Nothing changes until you open it while signed in to the same account and press the button. Links expire after five minutes. Making an item private does not need approval.

Troubleshooting

The assistant says it needs a permission

Disconnect RecipeWeave in the assistant's settings, connect again, and approve all permissions.

An import failed

The site may block automated access. Import it on recipeweave.com instead, or paste the recipe into the chat and ask the assistant to create it.

An approval link says it expired

Ask the assistant to repeat the action to get a fresh link.

Privacy and support

RecipeWeave receives only what the assistant sends to its tools, never your conversation. Read the privacy policy. For help, email [email protected] or visit support.
